The Department of Psychology at Florida State University (FSU) invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in BEHAVIORAL/SYSTEMS NEUROSCIENCE . Candidates with lines of laboratory animal research in any area of Neuroscience are encouraged to apply, particularly those who work to understand experience-dependent neural activity in the normal or diseased brain. Such research might include spatial navigation, decision making, and/or learning and memory.
FSU is classified as a Carnegie R1 (Highest Research Activities) and ranks in the top 20 of National Public Universities (US News & World Reports). Candidates will find an outstanding research infrastructure with scientific colleagues housed in adjacent buildings, and relatively new laboratory space and vivarium. The department has a fully-staffed electronics and machine shop and faculty have access to core equipment and resources including surgical suites, a confocal microscope and common-use histology/molecular laboratory in the building and numerous other shared resources across the program facilities (see and campus (e.g., 21T small animal magnet). Our department has outstanding resources, a favorable teaching load, a high level of research activity, and a collegial atmosphere. Faculty will be expected to maintain a strong research program, train graduate students in the Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience, and have the potential for excellent teaching and mentoring of diverse student populations for undergraduate and graduate neuroscience courses in the Psychology Department.
