BUSINESS ANALYST POSITION INTRO


ARU's rapidly-growing Operations team seeks an experienced insurance Business Analyst ("BA").

The BA will be the primary liaison between project resources and various business units in order to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate requirements for changes to business processes and IT applications/systems.  The BA will act as a technical consultant for business problems and opportunities and also provide insight for possible technical solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Take a lead role in extrapolating high-level business and user requirements into quality functional requirements, specified in an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by those who must base their work on those requirements.
  • Serve as the liaison between the customer community and the development teams through which requirements flow.
  • Conduct interviews and lead requirements gathering sessions with business representatives to elicit and document business requirements for system development. 
  • Elicit and write business and system functional and non-functional requirements including usability, reliability, performance, and support requirements of a system.
  • Effectively communicate issues to business customers and elicit feedback for applications programmers and technology solution providers.
  • Develop and maintain use cases and workflow scenarios.
  • Work with application developers and vendors to analyze and develop conceptual design of system components.
  • Oversee user acceptance testing.
  • Apply use of tools to define requirements and documentation.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for assigned projects and processes.
  • Conduct issue triage and escalation as it relates to requirements/technical issues for the client/project.
  • Act as Post-Launch Subject Matter Expert for internal and external contacts.
  • Master the use of ARU standardized hardware, software programs, third party software, and processing procedures.

WHAT WE MINIMALLY REQUIRE - YOUR EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLSET:

  • BS/BA Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Business Administration or Information Systems.
  • 6+ years experience in a Business Analyst and solution delivery focused capacity, specifically in a Property and Casualty Insurance business environment.
  • Experience/exposure to business analysis methodology, process improvement methodology, project and risk management and industry related tools.
  • Direct experience working with Policy Administration software applications.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with spreadsheet and other modern technology; able to learn new systems quickly.
  • Exceptional thoroughness, accuracy, personal organization, time management, and record-keeping skills. Able to work directly with clients to understand business requirements on a project basis.
  • Excellent critical thinker and problem-solver under pressure. High intellectual curiosity, with an enjoyment of learning and self-improvement.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of assigned responsibilities and accompanying results.
  • Excellent professional presentation and polish, in the spoken word and written form.

REMOTE POSITION / HOME OFFICE / TIME ZONE REQUIREMENTS:
  • This is a 100% remote position. As such, adherence to remote-work best practices is required, which includes (but is not limited to) having an appropriate professional home-office set-up, with reliable high speed internet. The space used for the office must be a separate enclosed room with a door that closes and that has professional decor appropriate for video conferencing.
  • As this is a remote position, candidates may live anywhere in the United States. However, working either EASTERN or CENTRAL time business hours is required.
