As a Career Counselor/Coach at Detroit Training Center, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting individuals through our Workforce Development Training Programs. This program is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue successful careers in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in workforce development and a passion for helping individuals achieve their career goals.
Responsibilities:
Career Coaching: Provide one-on-one empowerment coaching to participants in the vocational programs, assessing their career goals and developing personalized plans for success.
Program Guidance: Assist participants in navigating their vocational program, ensuring they understand the curriculum, requirements, and expectations.
Job Placement Support: Collaborate with employers and industry partners to identify job opportunities for program graduates. Facilitate connections between participants and potential employers.
Resume Building and Interview Preparatio n: Conduct workshops and training sessions to help participants create effective resumes and prepare for job interviews.
Retention and Follow-Up: Monitor the progress of program participants, offering ongoing support and guidance to ensure successful program completion and career placement.
Data Management : Maintain accurate records of participant progress, outcomes, and employer partnerships. Generate reports as needed to track program success.
Qualifications:
Experience: Preferred m inimum of 2 years of experience in workforce development or career coaching, with a focus on programs related to the construction industry.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with participants, employers, and colleagues.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team to achieve common goals.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, but relevant experience will also be considered.
