McPherson College seeks a dynamic, dedicated, and experienced individual to lead its Athletic Communication department.
The Director of Athletic Communications (DAC) is responsible for leading and maintaining a comprehensive athletics communications program for McPherson College. This includes managing the MACBulldogs.com Athletics website with up-to-date information on sports, competition results, and profiles of student-athletes, coaches, and staff. The DAC works in collaboration with campus Communications staff to ensure the website and content align with institutional design and quality standards.
The DAC oversees all athletic department social media accounts, creating engaging content such as videos and interviews featuring student-athletes and coaches. They are also responsible for game day operations related to communications, including livestreaming, program development, scorer’s table management, and the timely posting of game statistics and outcomes. Additionally, they compile and report statistics to the conference and NAIA and may occasionally serve as a game manager when needed.
A key responsibility of the DAC is to manage student-athlete nominations for weekly and annual awards at the conference, regional, and national levels. The role includes supervising a part-time assistant, student interns, and game day staff, while building a diverse and inclusive Sports Information team. The DAC also serves as the main liaison with media outlets and hosts media representatives during postseason tournaments.
Collaboration is central to the role, particularly with Communications and Marketing staff, to elevate the visibility of Bulldog Athletics and support the college’s mission, branding, and outreach goals. The DAC coordinates major news releases related to the athletic department and contributes to student learning through internships, and employment. Finally, the DAC maintains permanent records of athletic achievements, oversees sports information technology, and manages the departmental budget.
