Job Description

Position Title: Director of Philanthropic Events

Reports To:               Chief of Community Engagement

Status:                        Full-Time

Work Schedule:M-F (7:30AM-4:00PM); as needed for events.

 

Position Purpose:

The Director of Philanthropic Events is responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of all philanthropic, campaign, and stewardship events along with developing the strategies and programs related to achieving the mission of The Woodlands Christian Academy (TWCA).

 

Essential Functions:

All members of the Senior Leadership Team/Directors/Assistant Principals/Deans carry the following responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Develop and oversee TWCA’s comprehensive fundraising and donor stewardship plan and initiatives.

  • Build, maintain, and strengthen positive relationships within TWCA and the external community, specifically develop and maintain close working relationships with the philanthropic community, individual and corporate donors, and sponsors.
  • Along with the Chief of Community Engagement and other members of the SLT, set fundraising goals with an understanding of the critical role that donor participation plays in ensuring the success of TWCA’s mission.
  • Assist the other members of the Advancement Office with achieving the goals of the Warrior Fund and oversee the planning and management of the annual fundraising gala, including donor cultivation and solicitation, event logistics and communications, and program details.
  • Cultivate volunteers to assist with all fundraising activities of the school and provide program oversight including leadership roles of the Auction and Gala, Golf Tournament, and other TWCA community events.
  • Continue to build, maintain, and advance TWCA’s philanthropic culture through the cultivation, recognition, and stewardship of all donors and participants.
  • Coordinate special events and activities to engage the TWCA community.
  • Partner with the Director of Communications to develop effective media, campaigns, presentations, and materials to ensure consistent messaging about TWCA both internally and externally.
  • Assist with the annual strategic departmental planning and budgeting in accordance with the Business Office policies and procedures.
  • Regularly attend and participate in TWCA functions.

Strategic and Administrative:

  • Support TWCA’s mission, vision, and ends goals as set forth by the Governance Board.

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Advancement Department using effective planning, interpersonal, and project management skills in order to meet necessary deadlines.
  • Complete key strategic plan goals outlined and assigned in the current TWCA Strategic Plan.
  • Review proposals with the Advancement team for funding and event support requests (from parents, clubs, fine arts, athletics, etc.) to manage and limit ancillary fundraisers and events.
  • Assist with the reconciliation of donations with the Business Office.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, and systems for the Advancement Department, to ensure they remain consistent with TWCA policies and legal requirements.
  • Communicate and administer fundraising policies and procedures.
  • Assist with Advancement publications and support materials i.e. Annual Report, collateral fundraising materials with the support of the Marketing/Communications Department, and external resources when necessary, to execute and produce required outcomes.
  • Set the annual calendar for fundraising and special events.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to remain current on trends in non-profit development and innovative new approaches to fundraising.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • Leadership experience in fundraising/development and/or related field.
  • Ability to communicate and inspire with a vision for quality, ministry, and growth.
  • Highly relational with students, parents, and donors, a community builder.
  • Excellent organizational skills: prioritizes and plans work activities, and uses time effectively.
  • Ability to manage detailed reports, confidential information, and time-sensitive materials.
  • Ability to work strategically with the administration and teams of staff and volunteers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry systems, preferred.

  • Serve as a positive Christian role model to students and pursue Christ-like behavior.
  • Be a responsible steward of TWCA’s resources and personally support TWCA’s fundraising efforts.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

The ideal candidate can:

  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Work in standard office conditions and climate.

  • Work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities and fundraising events, as needed.

  • Perform in a highly stressful environment dealing with various challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.

  • Sit and stand for extended periods of time; bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.

  • Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone.
