Job Description

FAMILY CHILDCARE PARENT LEAD - Program Coordinator I

About JPNDC

Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation (JPNDC) is a grassroots community development corporation anchored in 47 years of community organizing and resident leadership. We seek to help transform the lives and amplify the voices of Boston residents who have been excluded from prosperity by an inequitable economic system. We build affordable housing that allows people to thrive, provide economic prosperity services that help people build on their strengths, and organize people to pursue the changes they desire.

Based in Jamaica Plain, we envision an equitable and inclusive Boston in which all people have access to secure housing, economic prosperity for their families, safe and vibrant childcare, and neighborhoods with strong community relationships, political power, and opportunities to fulfill their potential.

JPNDC's Family Childcare (FCC) program is a system of 80+ independent licensed early educators offering childcare in their homes to low-income children with public childcare subsidies. JPNDC supports educators in providing high-quality early education and care designed to prepare children for success in school and life. We also support families through an array of wraparound services and enrichment activities.

What We Offer

JPNDC offers an extensive benefits package!

  • Up to 90% of individual insurance premiums paid for health insurance, vision, and Altus dental insurance.
  • Two weeks of vacation plus one week at the end of the year and 14 recognized holidays per year.
  • Employer-paid life & disability insurance and a vested 403b retirement plan.
  • CEU Credit or comparable training offers to support professional development in areas of DEI, economic and workforce development, early childhood education, and affordable housing and real estate finance.

The Role

The Parent Coordinator will join the Family Child Care team, reporting directly to the Director of Family Care. As a dedicated and skilled professional, the Parent Coordinator will serve as the liaison to families and educators, fostering and implementing programs to ensure children in the FCC program achieve a high degree of readiness for school entry, while parents receive the support they need to thrive in their social and economic mobility goals.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of family-based education with families striving for higher heights.

Duties

  • Coordinate ASQ and progress reports.
  • Coordinate BPS and School referrals.
  • Coordinate early intervention activities.
  • Plan and conduct a variety of outreach strategies to recruit families and engage their participation.
  • Produce a monthly newsletter to distribute resources for parents.
  • Meet with all newly enrolled families to inform them about activities and refer them to Family Prosperity Services.
  • Follow up individually with parents as needed and collect parent fees.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community resource agencies and other partners.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records, enter client data into the database, and prepare reports.
  • Conduct visits to educators' homes as needed.
  • Coordinate backup care and transportation as needed.
  • Plan and facilitate events/activities for families, combining enrichment activities (e.g., STEM, arts and crafts), parent community-building, guest speakers, and access to JPNDC's economic mobility programs (career and financial literacy coaching).
  • Coordinate with partner organizations, including Family Nurturing Center, Walker School, and other partners, to provide workshops and family support.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in early childhood education, family support, and/or engagement.
  • Flexible schedule, including occasional nights and weekend hours.
  • Bilingual in Spanish & English or Haitian Creole & English.
  • Able to use own vehicle for work daily.
  • Must be a team player.

Preferred

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in Early Education, Family Studies, Child Development, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Experience planning/leading two-generation family-centered activities and interactive workshops for adults, with familiarity with relevant community resources.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, client databases, and technology for virtual sessions.

Employment Terms/Compensation

This is a full-time, salaried position with a generous benefits package.

  • Salary range: $55,000 - $60,000, depending on experience.
  • Flexible schedule but must be available for some evenings and occasional Saturdays on a scheduled basis.

Applicants must submit both a resume and a cover letter to be considered for this position.
