Job Description



AECOM  is seeking a motivated Fire Protection Engineer to be located in Orange, California.

Entry-level fire protection engineers play a key role in supporting the design, testing, and inspection of fire protection and life safety systems. Assist in creating designs, performing calculations, and conducting analysis for a multitude of projects. Use computer software to address engineering problems and ensure all work aligns with project scope, budget, and schedule.

This position is expected to begin in October 2024

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, special suppression systems, and more.
  • Develop life safety code compliance plans.
  • Assist in the development of permit documents.
  • Develop your engineering expertise by learning and applying fire protection principles, design techniques, and industry standards.
  • Assist in the engineering design process under the supervision of a senior engineer, ensuring that designs meet project requirements and safety codes.
  • Prepare designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the guidance of an experienced engineer.
  • Employ computer software tools to solve basic engineering problems and support the design and analysis of fire protection systems.
  • Perform tasks in accordance with the agreed-upon budget and schedule, ensuring project milestones are met while working under supervision.

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or higher focusing on Fire Protection engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Due to the nature of this work, US citizenship is required.

:

  • Basic knowledge of fire protection systems, safety codes, and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with CAD software and fire protection engineering tools is a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop skills in fire protection engineering.
