Position Overview:
As the Director of Finance & Accounting, you will bring substantial technical and managerial expertise to oversee our global finance and accounting functions. Reporting to the Managing Director, Global Business Operations, you will be an integral part of our corporate management team, providing strategic financial guidance and thought partnership to ThinkWell's leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations and Oversight:
Ensure compliance with GAAP and US Government regulations (IRS, IFRS, CFR, FAR).
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and invoicing.
Implement robust internal controls and accounting protocols.
Lead multi-entity consolidations and donor requirement cost allocations.
Manage internal and external audits and facilitate audit processes.
Financial Compliance, Planning, Forecasting, and Reporting:
Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
Develop and implement organizational policies and procedures.
Monitor compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Oversee all financial reporting and analyze the firm's financial position.
Budgeting:
Lead organizational budgeting processes and monitor expenditures.
Develop pricing and cost recovery strategies.
Review proposal budgets for accuracy and compliance.
Team Management and Representation:
Manage and lead the Accounting and Finance teams.
Represent the organization in budget and contract negotiations.
Support risk management and provide strategic financial advice.
Requirements:
BA/BS and 15+ years' relevant experience or graduate degree and 12+ years' relevant experience. Active CPA required.
Demonstrated financial and accounting leadership in international development.
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
Extensive knowledge of US Government regulations (2 CFR 200, FAR, AIDAR).
Experience with public and private funders and agencies preferred.
Proficiency in Excel and ability to manage complex financial data.
Fluency in English; proficiency in a second language is advantageous.
Outstanding cross-cultural communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
