Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at our facility in Wartrace, TN . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process improvements, continuous improvement initiatives, Kaizen projects, and equipment troubleshooting, specifically within an automotive manufacturing environment. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in optimizing production processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring high-quality standards are met throughout the manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Improvements: Lead efforts to optimize manufacturing processes and workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles and tools. Drive cost reduction, waste elimination, and process standardization.
  • Kaizen Projects: Plan, implement, and manage Kaizen events to facilitate team-based problem-solving and process improvement solutions.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Provide hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production-related equipment and process issues. Recommend and implement corrective actions.
  • Equipment Optimization: Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure optimal performance of manufacturing equipment. Troubleshoot and suggest improvements to increase equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilize data analytics to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), identify trends, and provide insights for process improvements.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless operations and alignment with production goals.
  • Training & Mentoring: Provide guidance and training to manufacturing personnel on new processes, equipment, and best practices.
  • Documentation & Standardization: Develop and maintain technical documentation, process control plans, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering within an automotive environment, preferably in a high-volume production setting.
  • Strong background in process improvement, lean manufacturing, and Kaizen methodologies.
  • Proven experience with equipment troubleshooting and root cause analysis in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with automotive industry standards and quality control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD or SolidWorks), and familiar with PLC programming or automation systems is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Six Sigma, DMAIC, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of robotics, automation, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Previous experience with ISO/TS certifications or other automotive quality standards.
