Are you a skilled Billing and Coding Specialist looking for a rewarding remote opportunity? Join our team and help us ensure that our billing and coding processes are accurate, comprehensive, and efficient. In this role, you'll work closely with the Revenue Cycle Director to manage all aspects of medical coding and billing, with a focus on delivering exceptional service.
What You'll Do:
Billing and Coding Operations: Support the billing department by handling coding, charge entry, and claims submissions.
Claims Analysis: Review billing and claims for accuracy and completeness, submit claims to insurance entities, and resolve any submission issues.
Regulation Compliance: Stay updated with current coding and billing regulations, ensuring compliance with all health information management standards, including HIPAA.
Confidentiality: Maintain patient and client confidentiality in all aspects of your work.
Team Collaboration: Build effective working relationships with team members, clients, staff, and patients.
Coding and Documentation: Abstract information from medical records and assign appropriate codes. Prepare and submit claims to insurance carriers, either electronically or via hard copy.
Charge Management: Post charges, payments, and adjustments accurately.
Insurance Understanding: Navigate insurance benefits, including copays, deductibles, and coinsurance.
Documentation Procurement: Collaborate with internal providers and external facilities to gather necessary documentation for coding claims.
Claims Research: Investigate and resolve rejected and denied claims.
Medical Terminology: Apply medical terminology and coding guidelines (ICD-10, CPT-4, HCPCS) to ensure optimal reimbursement.
Database Management: Enter information into the facility's database following medical coding protocols.
Audits and Reports: Conduct audits and prepare data reports for supervisory review.
Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
Experience: 2+ years in medical billing and coding, with surgical coding experience preferred.
Certification: CPC certification required.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of revenue cycle operations, including charge capture, health information management, billing, and denial management.
Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Office (Word & Excel), and medical billing software.
Attention to Detail: Ability to handle frequent interruptions and distractions while maintaining accuracy.
Communication Skills: Excellent mathematical, written, and verbal communication skills.
