About the Role

As a Medical Coder, you'll play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely billing for healthcare services. You'll abstract medical documentation into billable codes, following industry best practices and payer guidelines. Your work will directly contribute to the financial health of our organization.

Key Responsibilities

Coding: Accurately abstract provider services into billable codes (CPT, HCPCS, & ICD-10) using industry standards and guidelines.
Posting and Reconciliation: Post and reconcile hospital charges daily.
Communication: Identify and report coding inefficiencies to the coding supervisor, such as unspecified or truncated diagnoses, incomplete documentation, and inappropriate coding trends.
Research: Reference coding and payer resources to ensure accurate coding and billing.
Collaboration: Assist the AR Specialist with complicated coding denials, including creating appeal letters and gathering supporting documentation.
Professional Development: Continue your education in coding and billing through provided resources.
Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and/or coding.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical coding principles and practices.
Certifications: Medical Billing and Coding certifications preferred.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Customer Service: Strong customer service orientation and phone etiquette.
Organization: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a high-volume workload.
Confidentiality: Maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Teamwork: Positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with others.
