PARK MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT -OCOTILLO WELLS DISTRICT / PICACHO STATE RECREATION AREA 

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The reporting location is Picacho SRA maintenance shop, Picacho Road Winterhaven, CA 92283. This position will work under the general direction of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.                                                                                                            

The Park Maintenance Assistant will provide leadership for the Picacho SRA seasonal employees. The position may act as liaison with volunteer and stakeholder groups on behalf of the District for maintenance related projects. As part of the maintenance team, he/she will be responsible for housekeeping and facility maintenance of the park. The position will participate in providing leadership to seasonal maintenance staff along with leading seasonal employees in other service areas or park units within the District as directed.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position is designated as not telework eligible .

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) , this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR .

Working Conditions

• Typical work activities involve frequent periods of bending, stooping, and lifting.

• May have extensive exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.

• May work in remote locations.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
