Location: Biddeford, Maine
Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Materials Engineer specializing in carbon composites to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the development and optimization of advanced composite materials for aerospace applications, ensuring high performance and reliability in demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities - Establish and maintain documentation for processes and quality, assisting in performance evaluation and offering expertise to engineers, clients, and organizational leaders.
- Design and implement analytical and experimental studies to facilitate the development, refinement, and enhancement of advanced carbon composite materials and processes.
- Manage and maintain current research and development processing equipment, including creating proposals for improvements and optimizations.
- Compile technical reports to document and share insights gained with the broader team.
- Promote a culture of ongoing improvement and advocate for safe work practices consistently.
- Other duties as needed
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in materials engineering with a focus on carbon composites.
- Strong knowledge of composite materials, processing techniques, and material characterization methods.
- Experience in aerospace applications and materials selection for flight systems.
- Familiarity with C/C, ceramics, and CMC materials is a plus.
- Familiarity with material characterization and analysis techniques and equipment, such as SEM, microscopy, and spectral analysis is a plus.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Proficient in technical report writing and proposal development.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
