The Software Engineering Intern will be assigned to a functional Team Manager and an internship mentor. Work performed will be hands on, may contribute to a project, but does not directly impact the outcome.

At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have a clear understanding of how their studies directly contribute to their course of study and/or the medical device industry.

This is a part-time summer internship position, working with the Software Engineering Team at Kestra.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Project: A defined project will be assigned for completion over the internship term. Responsibilities will include creating a plan/schedule, completing basic research into our system, developing, and working with software/testing. The outputs will include a detailed report and presentation. A project mentor will be assigned to help provide guidance and conduct regular check-in meetings (1:1’s).
  • Test support: Support for software testing may be included as time allows.
  • Project Report: A DHF Report will be released in Arena documenting results.
  • Project Presentation: At internship end, the internship project results and findings will be presented to the engineering team and executives.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience Required:

  • 2nd year or higher undergraduate in Software Engineering degree
  • Working knowledge of C++ and/or Python
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred:

  • 3rd year or higher undergraduate in Software Engineering degree
  • Experience with Software Test and equipment
  • Knowledgeable in Machine Learning
  • Experience with Linux Operating System
  • Experience with board bringup

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Indoor open office environment
  • Minimal noise volume typical to an office environment
  • Extended/overtime hours when needed

INTERNSHIP ELIGIBILITY

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within the past 6 months
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment with Kestra Medical Technologies
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work
  • Must successful complete and pass a criminal and employment background screening that meets the allowable FDA requirements and is in accordance with EEOC rules and regulations
  • Must successfully pass a pre-internship drug screen

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequent repetitive motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers, such as keyboard and mouse usage
  • Frequent stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time
  • Frequent computers use
  • Frequent phone and other business machine use
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds

TRAVEL

  • Occasional travel, domestic and international, may be required, less than 10%
