Job Description

Position: Special Education Teacher

Location: Sharon, MA

Job Overview:
The Special Education Teacher will provide individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in both inclusive and specialized settings. The teacher will develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborate with general education teachers, and ensure that each student's learning needs are met in alignment with Massachusetts standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement IEPs for students with special needs.
• Adapt and modify the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Provide direct instruction in a variety of academic areas based on student needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion in the general classroom.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction as needed.
• Communicate with parents, administrators, and support staff about student progress.
• Foster a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and success.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Special Education.
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs in a school setting.
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred:

• Experience with specific disabilities (e.g., Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities).
• Familiarity with assistive technologies and instructional strategies for students with special needs.
