Job Title: Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)
Overview:
Therapy Contracting Services, Inc. is a staffing health care company that provides therapist for home health agencies. We service patients in Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio areas and provide personalized quality care within the comfort of your home or place of residence. Job Summary:
A Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) works under the supervision of a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to support the assessment and treatment of speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. The SLPA assists in the implementation of treatment plans, conducts therapy sessions, and provides administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the therapy program.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Therapeutic Interventions :
    • Implement therapy activities and exercises as directed by the supervising SLP.
    • Conduct individual or group therapy sessions focusing on speech, language, voice, and fluency.
    • Use materials and technology provided by the SLP to facilitate therapy sessions.
  2. Patient Support :
    • Assist patients with practice exercises and activities during therapy sessions.
    • Provide encouragement and support to help patients achieve their therapy goals.
    • Monitor and document patient performance and progress during sessions.
  3. Administrative Duties :
    • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including session notes and progress reports.
    • Prepare therapy materials and equipment for sessions.
    • Schedule appointments and manage patient files as needed.
  4. Collaboration and Communication :
    • Communicate regularly with the supervising SLP about patient progress and any concerns.
    • Participate in team meetings and case conferences as needed.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and educators to support comprehensive patient care.
  5. Patient and Family Education :
    • Provide patients and their families with information about home practice exercises and activities.
    • Assist in educating patients and families about the therapy process and goals as directed by the SLP.
  6. Professional Development :
    • Stay current with best practices and new techniques in speech-language therapy.
    • Participate in training and continuing education opportunities as required by the supervising SLP or employer.
Qualifications:
  • Education : Associate’s degree in a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Certification : Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or other relevant certifying bodies preferred. Driver’s license and CPR Certification.
  • Licensure : Valid state license or registration to practice as a Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant, if required by the state.
  • Experience : Experience working with individuals with speech and language disorders through internships or previous employment preferred.

    • Empathy and patience.
    • Ability to follow treatment plans and instructions from the supervising SLP.
    • Organizational and time-management abilities.

  • Hours : Typically, full-time, with some evening or weekend hours depending on patient needs.
Salary:
  • Up to $65.00 Per Hour
