The Urban and Environmental Studies Department at Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in urban geography, urban studies, and/or urban planning beginning fall semester 2024. The successful candidate will teach lower division courses in introductory urban studies and upper division courses in the areas of specialization.
Candidates who are capable of contributing to one or more of the department themes in sustainable urban policy and planning, the intersectionality of urban planning and social/environmental justice, urban systems and processes in the Global South , and/or metropolitan Los Angeles are particularly encouraged to apply.
Given the interdisciplinary nature of the department, teacher-scholars with the appropriate expertise in urban studies from a range of social science disciplines and interdisciplinary fields including geography, political science, public policy, planning, ethnic studies, and environmental studies are welcome to apply. The Ph.D. is required; however, ABD applicants who anticipate completion of the doctorate by fa ll 2024 will be considered.
