Weld/Fabrication Shop Supervisor:

Sea Fox Boats is looking for a Supervisor for our Weld/Fabrication shop. This individual will combine management skills with an extensive knowledge of welding processes and welding economics to plan, staff, monitor and safely deliver welding projects according to schedule and budget. This individual will have extensive knowledge of using anodized and non-anodized aluminum as well as D-tubing. We are seeking a hardworking professional who likes meeting challenges and surpassing expectations. Your chief responsibilities will include supervision of current employees, interpreting designs, monitoring machinery, and assessing welded components.  You will need to be able to weld and fabricate as well as assessing progress of current employees on projects. To excel in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of welding machinery and electrical equipment. The successful candidate will also have a steady hand and outstanding attention to detail.

Responsibilities to include: 

• Report directly to VP of Production
• Inspect and verify all parts coming out of the weld shop are built correctly with no defects
• Ensure work area is set up properly to maximize efficiency/organization and safety.
• Manage resources in work area to ensure all tools and materials needed are present or on order
• Monitor all tooling and equipment to ensure all is set up properly and functioning properly.
• Communicate any issues (material, staff, quality, equipment etc.) quickly and according to company procedures and guidelines
• Manage staff to ensure department is running efficiently, keeping up with production numbers and all safety procedures are in place.
• Training on use of tools and equipment for all staff
• Keep work area clean and always organized
• Maintain a respectful and professional approach to communicating with staff, other employees, and supervisors
• Follow and enforce all company policies including safety rules and quality standards
• Lead and motivate entire team (welders, helpers, fabricators)
• Mentor and train anyone not fully trained on weld skills
• Approve fit dimensions and gaps are within tolerance
• Track and complete accountability sheets for entire department
• Inventory all tops and lean posts as required by VP of Production
• Ensure all parts needed to go to Powder Coating are ready in a timely manner to not delay production
• Helps foster employee suggestions and continuous improvement initiatives
• Anticipates potential problem areas, analyzes, and recommends solutions or corrective actions

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in metal fabrication and welding industry
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in supervisory or managerial position(s)
• Working knowledge of manufacturing welding of aluminum products
• D-Tubing experience preferred
• Ability to work in effectively in a fast paced, non-climate-controlled environment
• Ability to effectively communicate with others
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
