Botanic Garden

Job Summary

The Work Study Student will support the Botanic Garden as a Graphic Design/Branding Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2024

Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Responsibilities

• Creates visual designs for marketing
• Designs graphics for branding
• Keeps the Garden's forms and graphics up-to-date, following brand standards
• Brainstorms with the team for social media campaigns
• Designs layouts for products and media
• Creates graphic patterns
• Assists with tech specs for graphics
• Lays out brochures, webpages, and marketing graphics

Shift Specifics

• Up to 20 hours per week
• Flexible with schedule of availability
• Occasional evening and weekend work required

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

• Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Other Required Qualifications

• Must be Federal Work eligible.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education

• Currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, English/Creative Writing, or similar field

Preferred Experience

• Skills: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Readymag, Mailchimp, and more
• Experience: Good design sense

Proposed Salary

$12.00 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

ABILITIES

• Consistently exhibit engaging customer service
• Ability to support various constituencies served by the University
• Proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases

• Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success

SKILLS

• Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
